Paint strippers are a chemical method of removing old or tired paint and varnishes usually used to take the old coating off and get back to an original substrate, either wood or metal. All paint strippers work in a similar manner, the chemical constituents react with the coating which will blister usually then removed with a scraper. Once the stripper has taken affect and the old paint scraped away the action will be stopped by washing the surface with either water or solvent.
