bleed from nicotine, or pen, or prevent the tannin from some timber species striking through the paint system and creating unsightly issues. Primers are designed for many uses but essentially the adhere to tricky surface, they block issues and can be sanded to create a finer finish for the top coat to be applied which will dry leaving a better finish.
