Description

Treatex Teak Protection is a highly UV resistant exterior wood finish designed for use on timbers such as Teak and Iroko. Manufactured on a base of natural sustainable raw materials including linseed oil and sunflower oil, Teak Protection is solvent-free and contains pigments that block damaging UV rays.

Ideal for garden furniture and boat decks, Treatex Teak Protection achieves a finish that is both highly water resistant and UV resistant. This product requires ‘wet-on’wet’ application – recoating before allowing each coat to dry completely.

Preparation

Treatex Teak Protection will only work on unfinished timber. Fully remove previous finishes prior to application. If timber is grey and weathered then sanded it back or cleaned it to restore its natural colour before application. Ensure the timber is sound, clean, dry and free from possible contaminants such as, algae, grease, dirt, dust etc.

Buy enough Teak Protection to complete the whole project, and if more than one tin is required mix them together before use. Timber must have a moisture content below 18%. Temperature must be greater than 8ºC during application and drying. We strongly advise conducting a trial application before commencing the project.

Application

Stir container thoroughly, before and during use. Use a brush to apply Treatex Teak Protection in liberally and evenly in the same direction as the wood grain, allowing approximately 60-70ml per m². This product works best when the second coat is applied ‘wet on wet’. This means a second coat should be applied, in the same way as above, before the first coat is dry.

After the second coat leave to dry for approximately 12 hours. If the Teak readily absorbs the the second coat, apply a third coat before the second coat dries (this can be seen in our Teak protection application video on this page).
