Description
Anker Stuy Hydrolux Exterior Topcoat a waterborne topcoat based on Tri-Cryl technology. The Hydrolux Topcoat has a very good coverage and superb flow. It has a short drying time, after 3 hours you can do further treatment. Anker Stuy Hydrolux Exterior Topcoat should be applied on top of the Hydrolux Primer/Midcoat and can be maintained with our Hydrotop brush coating. KOMO-certified by the SKH wood institute.
Substrate and Preparation
- Suitable for all commonly used timber species.
- Timber moisture content should be between 12 and 16%.
- The substrate must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, silicone and wax.
- Follow the appropriate Anker Stuy coating specification for other system products such as primers and end grain sealers.
Application Conditions
- During application and for at least 10 minutes afterwards we advise a temperature between 15 and 20⁰C and a relative humidity of 60-70%.
- Do not apply below 8°C ambient and surface temperature and a relative humidity above 85%.
Spray Equipment settings
- Fluid Pressure : 100-150 Bar
- Air assistance : As required but not greater than 2 Bar.
- Nozzle Size : 0.028mm to 0.033mm (11-13 thou)
- Although our recommended method of application is air assisted airless spraying, conventional spraying such as the use of a gravity fed pot gun can be conducted with a sufficiently large nozzle such as 2 to 2.5mm. It may be necessary to thin down the coating to get good flow through such apparatus.
- Do not thin by more than 10%.
Film thickness
- 150-170µm wet film thickness.
- The values given refer to undiluted material.
- Where a large colour change from our standard white primer is required we suggest using our primer/midcoat in the appropriate colour to enable the job to be completed using one layer of top coat.
Drying Times
For a 150µm wet film layer thickness at 20°C and relative humidity of 65%:
- Dust dry : 30 Minutes
- Dry to handle : 120 Minutes
- Drying times can be greatly reduced if drying conditions are warmer and less humid. Refer to Anker Stuy coatings UK for more details.
- Lower temperatures, poor air exchange and high humidity will delay drying.
- Incorrect drying can lead to surface defects, issues with moisture uptake through coatings and possible problems with extractive staining.
Thinning and cleaning
- Thin with clean water.
- Clean tools with warm water.
Special information
- This product is particularly suitable for force drying with high temperature and low humidity.
- A full three coat system with two layers of Hydrolux Primer/Midcoat and a layer of Hydrolux Topcoat can be applied very easily in one working day.
