Description
Blackfriar Acrylic Primer Undercoat. A water based quick drying primer for use inside and outside the home. It dries quickly, so you can apply a second coat of Acrylic Primer Undercoat, enabling you to finish a whole job in one day. It is suitable for bare woodwork, hardboard, masonry, dry plaster and cement.
Preparation
- Ensure surface to be coated is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease or any other contamination.
- Treat knots and resinous areas with Blackfriar Patent Knotting and allow to dry before applying Blackfriar Acrylic Primer Undercoat.
- Exposed ferrous metal (e.g. nails) should be spot primed with the appropriate Blackfriar Metal Primer.
Application
- Stir thoroughly prior to use with a broad stirrer.
- The product may be applied by brush, roller or spray.
- Two coats are recommended to give best protection.
- On open end grain timber brush in well and apply two coats.
- For porous surfaces or if applying by spray the product may be thinned up to 10% with water.
- Thinning – Maximum 10% water.
- Coverage – Up to 14m2 per litre per coat.
- Drying Time – Touch dry in 1 – 2 hours.
- Recoat after 4 hours and within 3 days.
- Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity.
Limitations
- Do not use under cold (less than 10oC), damp or humid conditions.
- Not suitable for use on metal surfaces – use Blackfriar Metal Primer or Blackfriar Multi-Purpose Primer.

- Contains Reaction mass of: 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one [EC no. 247-500-7] and 2-methyl2Hisothiazol-3-one [EC no. 220-239-6] (3:1).
