Description
Blackfriar Aluminium Paint provides long-lasting, heat-resistant protection for interior and exterior surfaces the heat resistant aluminium resists dry heat up to 300°F. It can be used on metal and wood for an extra bright finish.
Preparation
- Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free from grease, oils, wax or any other surface contamination.
- Remove any loose and flaking paint back to a firm feathered edge.
- Galvanised metal should be degreased and primed with Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer.
- Rusty metal should be wire-brushed to a clean, bright surface and primed immediately with Blackfriar Anti-Rust Metal Primer.
- New and bare surfaces should also be primed with an appropriate Blackfriar primer.
Application
- Stir paint well using a broad stirrer before and during use.
- Blackfriar Aluminium Paint may be applied by brush or spray.
- Apply 1-2 coats, as required.
- Thinning – Not recommended.
- Coverage Rate: Up to 14 square metres per litre per coat.
- Drying Time: Touch dry in 2 – 4 hours. Recoat after 16 hours and within 3 days. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.
Limitations
- Do not use under cold (less than 5°C), damp or humid conditions.
- Not suitable for direct application to galvanised metal, use Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer first.
- Due to the bright metallic finish of this product, colour transfer may occur.
- For painted items that may be handled apply a clear protective topcoat such as Blackfriar Polyurethane Varnish (interior) or Blackfriar Exterior Varnish (exterior).
- NB: The varnish may produce a yellowing effect.
Clean Up
- Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with white spirit.
- Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
Storage
- Store in a dry, safe place.
- Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur.
- Keep within 5-30°C.
- Do not store in direct sunlight.
