Description
Blackfriar Chalkboard Paint produces a blackboard surface in no time. Its durable matt black finish resists ghosting allowing for clear, legible chalk writing. Ideal for the home, nurseries, bars and restaurants!
Preparation
- Ensure surface to be coated is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease or any other contamination.
- Previously painted surfaces in sound condition should be abraded and degreased prior to direct application of Blackfriar Chalkboard Paint.
- Remove any rust and abrade back to a clean bright surface before priming with the appropriate Blackfriar Metal Primer.
- New or other bare surfaces should be primed with the appropriate Blackfriar primer.
Application
- Stir thoroughly prior to use with a broad stirrer.
- The product may be applied by brush, roller or spray.
- Two coats are recommended to give best protection.
- Thinning – Not recommended.
- Coverage Rate: Up to 14 square metres per litre per coat.
- Drying Time: Hard dry in 16 hours. Recoat after 16 hours and within 3 days. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.
Limitations
- Do not use under cold (less than 5°C), damp or humid conditions.
- Not suitable for use on roller boards or with liquid chalks.
- There may be some ‘ghosting’ when the chalkboard is first used. To overcome this, clean the board with a damp rag.
- If used externally regular maintenance will be required.
- Not suitable for direct application to galvanised metal, use Blackfriar Multi Surface Primer first.
Clean Up
- Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with white spirit.
- Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
Storage
- Store in a dry, safe place.
- Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur.
- Keep within 5-30°C.
- Do not store in direct sunlight.
