Description
Blackfriar Exterior Water Seal. Stops moisture, water and damp penetrating your exterior walls. This solution is silicone-based, providing excellent waterproofing protection. You can use it on all properties, including old buildings and renovated cottages.
Preparation
- Ensure surface to be treated is clean, sound and firm, with any cracks filled.
- Do not use alkaline or acid detergents or cationic surfactants.
- Mould growth should be treated with Blackfriar Anti-Mould Solution and allowed to dry.
- It is advisable to wait 28 days before treating fresh masonry.
Application
- Ensure Blackfriar Exterior Water Seal is thoroughly shaken prior to use.
- Apply 1 coat liberally by brush, roller or low pressure spray until the surface is saturated.
- Apply from bottom of wall and work upwards.
- It is normal for the product to run down the surface (up to 30 cm) – this will not be visible when it has dried.
- On very porous surfaces, a second coat is necessary as soon as the first coat has lost its glossy appearance.
- Coverage Rate: 1 Litre covers approximately 2-4 square metres depending on the porosity of the surface.
- Drying Time: 12 hours. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.
Clean Up
- Remove as much product from application equipment as possible before washing with white spirit.
- Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
Limitations
- Do not use under cold (less than 5°C) conditions.
- Do not apply Blackfriar Exterior Water Seal to wet or damp surfaces. Application onto damp surfaces will prevent full penetration into the surface.
- Not suitable for use on wood, metal or limestone.
Storage
- Store in a dry, safe place.
- Do not store Blackfriar Exterior Water Seal product in environments where extreme temperatures may occur.
- Keep within 5-30°C.
