Description
Blackfriar High Gloss Paint is specially formulated to provide a hardwearing finish with increased flexibility meaning it lasts longer than ordinary gloss paints. It is ideal for wood, metal, plaster and most normal interior and exterior surfaces.
Preparation
- Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and free from any rust, oils, wax or any other surface contamination.
- Remove any loose or flaking paint back to a firm edge, abrade any existing coating to provide a key.
- Rusty metals should be wire-brushed to a clean bright surface and primed immediately with Blackfriar Quick Drying Anti-Rust Primer.
- Galvanized metal should be degreased and primed with Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer.
- New and bare surfaces should be primed with an appropriate primer such as Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer.
Application
- Stir thoroughly prior to use with a broad stirrer.
- The product may be applied by brush, roller or spray.
- Two coats are recommended to give best protection.
- Thinning – Not recommended.
- Coverage – Up to 14 square metres per litre per coat.
- Drying Time – Touch dry in 4-6 hours. Recoat after 16 hours and within 3 days. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.
Limitations
- Do not use under cold (less than 5°C), damp or humid conditions.
- Blackfriar High Gloss Paint is not resistant to petrol or fuel oil (use Blackfriar Quick Drying Metal Paint).
- Not suitable for direct application to galvanised metal, use Blackfriar Multi Surface Primer first.

- Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with white spirit.
- Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
Storage
- Store in a dry, safe place.
- Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur.
- Keep within 5-30°C.
