Description
Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer. Multi-Surface Primer has been specially formulated to prime multiple surfaces prior to further painting. It’s ideal for hard and soft woods, chipboard, plywood, GRP, MDF, exterior UPVC, ceramic tiles, iron and steel.
Preparation
- Ensure the surface to be primed is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease and oil.
- If you are preparing wood or plaster, remove loose/ flaking paint, clean to a bare surface and sand smooth.
- Remove any fungal growth or mould prior to application.
- Treat any knots or resinous wood with Blackfriar Patent Knotting and allow to dry before applying Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer.
- If preparing iron and steel, remove any rust and mill scale with a wire brush, clean back to a bright surface, and prime immediately.
Application
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply one coat of Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer by brush or roller except on ferrous metals and porous surfaces where two coats are required.
- For porous surfaces, dilute the first coat with 10% water.
- If applying two coats lightly sand the first coat prior to applying the second to remove any imperfections.
- Please note when applying to copper, the primer coat may turn blue – this colour will not be visible once a top coat is applied.
- Coverage – Up to 12 square metres per litre per coat. Coverage may vary depending on method, rate of application and roughness of surface.
- Drying Time – Touch dry in 1 hour. Apply a second coat after 4 hours if required.
- Drying times will be extended in low temperatures. Not recommended for use in damp conditions or if the temperature is below 10°C.
Clean Up
Remove as much paint as possible from equipment before cleaning. Clean with warm water, rinse and dry thoroughly.
Storage
- Store Blackfriar Multi-Surface Primer in a dry, safe place.
- Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur.
- Keep within 5-30°C.
- Do not store in direct sunlight.
