Description
Blackfriar Polyurethane Stained Varnish transforms interior woodwork with a with a tough and durable decorative and protective high gloss finish. Blackfriar Polyurethane Varnish gives wooden surfaces new life and enhances the natural shades of wooden floors and furniture.
Preparation
Ensure surface to be varnished is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, oil or any other contamination. If wax has been used clean the surface thoroughly with white spirit prior to sanding. Bare wood should be sanded to a smooth surface, always working with the grain. Sound previously varnished surfaces should be lightly sanded to provide a key. Remove dust. Existing varnished surfaces which are unsound or in poor condition can be stripped back to bare timber with Blackfriar Professional Paint and Varnish Remover.
Application
Stir thoroughly with a broad stirrer prior to use. Blackfriar Polyurethane Stained Varnish may be applied by brush or roller. If applying by brush, apply evenly using light strokes following the grain of the wood. Using a roller we would recommend the use of a short nap mohair roller. For best results 3-4 coats are recommended on new wood and 2-3 coats on previously varnished surfaces. Prior to application of the final coat or if the overcoating time is exceeded lightly abrade with fine glass paper working with the grain and remove dust.
