Blackfriar Red Oxide Metal Primer Paint

Description

Blackfriar Red Oxide Metal Primer Paint protects ferrous metals such as steel and iron with this special water-resistant formulation. An anti-corrosive, red oxide primer for the protection of
ferrous metals. Specifically formulated for painting ferrous An anti-corrosive, red oxide primer for the protection of ferrous metals. Contains zinc phosphate.

Preparation

• Ensure surface to be coated is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease or any other contamination.
• Remove any rust and abrade or wire brush back to a clean bright surface before applying Blackfriar Red Oxide Metal Primer.

Application

• Stir thoroughly prior to use with a broad stirrer.
• The product may be applied by brush, roller or spray.
• For best results we recommend applying by brush, working the paint into the surface profile.
• Apply one or two coats as required.
• Thinning – Not recommended.
• Coverage – Up to 14 square metres per litre per coat.
• Drying Time – Touch dry in 2 – 4 hours. Recoat after 16 hours and within 3 days. Drying times are based on an ambient temperature of 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures or higher humidity will prolong the drying and overcoating times.

Limitations

• Do not use under cold (less than 5°C), damp or humid conditions.
• Do not apply to damp or wet surfaces.
• Not suitable for application to non-ferrous metal.
• For galvanised metal or other non-ferrous metals use Blackfriar Multi-surface Primer.

Clean Up

• Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with white spirit.
• Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.

Storage

• Store in a dry, safe place.
• Do not store in environments where extreme temperatures may occur.
• Keep within 5-30°C.
• Do not store in direct sunlight.

Health and Safety

• Contains: Naphtha (petroleum), hydrotreated heavy.
• Flammable liquid and vapour.
• May cause drowsiness or dizziness.
• Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Read label before use. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand.
• Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces. – No smoking.
• Avoid breathing vapour or spray.
• Avoid release to the environment.
• IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water or shower. Call a doctor if you feel unwell.
• Contains neodecanoic acid, cobalt salt. May produce an allergic reaction. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking.
