Description
Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat is a high opacity, general purpose water-based primer. Quick drying and low odour, this acrylic white primer is a popular choice for interior and exterior bare timber surfaces.
Coverage Rate: Leyland estimate that 1 litre will cover approximately 13 square metres, depending on the nature and porosity of the surface.
Drying Times: Under normal conditions, touch dry within 30 minutes, and re-coatable after 1 to 2 hours.
Preparation
- Ensure surface to be painted is sound, clean, dry and free from grease.
- Rub down bare timber surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to remove raised grain and sharp edges.
- Apply Knotting Solution to knots and resinous surfaces.
- Rub down previously painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to provide a key.
- Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding.
- Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Application
- Stir Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat well before use.
- Apply by brush or roller.
- Apply liberally, brushing firmly into the surface.
- Treat all accessible timber, in particular the end grain.
- A second coat serves as an excellent undercoat for Leyland Gloss Finish.
- Do not apply when the temperature is below 10ËšC or externally when rain is imminent.
Cleaning
- Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing.
- Wash equipment immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Some local authorities have special facilities for disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses.
- Replace lid firmly.
