Description
Leyland Trade MDF Primer has been specifically formulated for use on interior and exterior medium density fibre board. Offering a low odour alternative to traditional solvent based primers.
Coverage Rate: 1 litre will cover approximately 13 square metres per litre, depending on the nature and porosity of the surface.
Drying Times: Touch dry in 30 minutes, and recoatable in 1 to 2 hours.
Preparation
- Ensure that the surface to be painted is clean, dry and free from loose and flaking material.
- Nail heads should be treated.
- Rub down previously painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper to provide a key and rinse thoroughly.
- Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding.
- Special precautions should be taken during preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Application
- Stir Leyland Trade MDF Primer well before use.
- Apply by a brush or roller which should be clean and free from solvent and oil.
- Apply liberally, brushing firmly into the surface.
- Do not apply when the air or surface temperature is below 10ºC or externally when rain is imminent.
- A second coat serves as an excellent undercoat for gloss finishes.
- Under normal conditions, touch dry in 30 minutes, recoatable after 1-2 hours. However, high humidity can affect the drying time.
Cleaning
- Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before cleaning.
- Clean equipment immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Replace lid firmly.
- Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses.
