Description
Sadolin Superdec is a water-borne, highly durable opaque finish for wood, weathered plastic, steel, cladding, concrete, masonry and exterior joinery. Superdec erodes naturally by weathering, thus ensuring the coating remains flexible and resists cracking, peeling and flaking. Sadolin Superdec can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces, and is ideal for use where a complete change of colour is required or where the existing surface has become weathered and uneven in appearance. On very resinous timber, to minimise extractive discoloration of the coating (particularly with white and pale shades of Superdec) a blocking primer should be used.
Additional:
Timber surfaces must be suitably prepared, clean and dry. The moisture content should not exceed 18% prior to coating. Resinous deposits should be removed. Treatment of resinous knots is recommended prior to application of Sadolin Superdec by drilling out and filling or the application of an appropriate blocking primer. Degrease any exposed bare timber surface by wiping with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits. “Knotting agents” should not be used with Sadolin opaque systems. Fillers specifically designed for use with timber such as the Sadolin wood fillers
should be used for making good any minor surface defects, imperfections and open joints etc. General or All Purpose fillers are not suitable.
Only use non – ferrous screws, nails and fixings. On certain substrates and when over coating dark shades with pale shades, it may be necessary to apply an additional coat to achieve full coverage.
Conditions:
Do not apply if there is a risk of rain, or when air / substrate temperatures are below 8°C or above 25°C or the relative humidity is above 80% during application or drying periods. Protect from frost and rain until dry. Failure to meet these requirements may adversely affect the drying, visual quality and durability of the finish.
Maintenance:
The need for maintenance is indicated by a lightening in colour, reduction in sheen as the coating erodes, and a loss of water repellence. All defective coatings should be completely removed. Any grey denatured exposed timber surfaces must be thoroughly sanded back to clean, bright timber. Organic growths must be removed and infected surfaces should be treated with a suitable fungicidal solution. Remaining sound surfaces should be cleaned using a warm water and mild detergent and rinsed thoroughly with clean water. Bare timber should be patch primed with one
coat of Sadolin Superdec. Finish with 1 or 2 coats of Sadolin Superdec as required.
