Teknos Aqua Primer 3130 – White

Description

Teknos Aqua Primer 3130 White – a water bourne microporous primer designed for application on to exterior soft wood joinery typically European redwood or MDF. Suitable Primer for use under Aqua Top 2600.

It is recommended that the use of Teknol Aqua 1410 Water Based preservative or similar be used on external softwood, Teknos Aqua 3130 is not designed to prevent the bleed from knots and will not prevent the resin exhudation from a live knot. Teknos 3130 will not prevent the tannin from exotic timber species such as Sapele, Iroko, Idigbo etc from migrating through the paint system. In the case of Knots we recommend the use of Zinsser BIN Primer for spot priming of the knot which will help prevent tannin bleed in to the top coat.

Preparation

The wood must be clean and free from wood dust and any possible contaminants. The moisture content of the wood should be approximately 13% and should not exceed 15%. Pre-treatment is required for wood substrates that do not meet Durability Class 3.

Application

• The manufacturer recommends applying Teknos Aqua Primer 3130 via airless spraying, air-assisted airlesss praying or electrostatic spraying. Further details are available in the technical data sheet attached (see the Download tab).
• Optimum temperature for products and surrounding: 18-22°C.
• Optimum relative air humidity: Approximately 50%.

Drying times

The drying times will vary as influenced by the quality of the wood, humidity, temperature and ventilation. The following drying times were determined at 23°C and 50% relative humidity:

• Dry to handle: 2-3 hours.
• Dry to recoat: 3-4 hours.

The drying time can be reduced using special drying systems to force drying.

Safety Information

• May produce an allergic reaction.
• If you need medical advice have the tin and/or label at hand.
• Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Wear respiratory protection if spraying the product.
• Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing.
• IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do, and then continue rinsing.
• IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. Do not use solvent or thinners or white spirit.
• IF SWALLOWED: Call a POISON CENTRE or doctor if you feel unwell at all.
