Description

Teknos Teknoseal 4001 Colourless Elasticone-component clear V-joint sealer. For the sealing of V-joints in wood and wood/aluminium windows and doors against moisture ingress in exterior use. Comes in a caulk gun with nozzle attached, ready for use.

Low odour formulation with good ageing and weather resistance as well as good UV resistance. Maximum movement tolerance is 25% and the volume loss max. 4%.

Surface Preparation

  • Make sure the substrate is dry, firm and free from possible contaminants like dust and grease.
  • Note that using a V-joint filler is no substitute for proper joinery and fully gluing corner joints.
  • Pre-treatment may be required for wood substrates not meeting Durability Class 3.
  • Teknos state that YOU MUST PRIME THE SURFACE BEFORE APPLYING TEKNOS TEKNOSEAL 4040-00 COLOURLESS.

Application

  • The V-joint can be smoothed with water and a suitable tool (e.g., jointing trowel).
  • Remove excess smoothing agent and be sure that excessive water/humidity is completely removed.
  • The recommended application thickness is a maximum 2mm.

Application Conditions

  • The surface to be treated has to be dry.
  • During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the product should be between 15°C and 40°C.
  • The relative air humidity should be below 80% for optimum results.
  • Upon ongoing contact to moisture, the joint will get slightly hazed. This effect is reversible and disappears once the joint becomes fully dry again.
  • Ensure good ventilation during application and curing.

Drying Times

  • The drying times will vary as influenced by the amount of product applied to the surface, as well as different surface attributes, humidity, temperature and ventilation.
  • The following drying times were determined at 23°C and 50% relative humidity:
  • Dry to handle: 2 hours.
  • Fully cured: approx. 24 hours (with a maximum of 2mm application thickness).

Safety Information

  • May produce an allergic reaction.
  • If you need medical advice have the tin and/or label at hand.
  • Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Wear respiratory protection if spraying the product.
  • Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing.
  • IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do, and then continue rinsing.
  • IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. Do not use solvent or thinners or white spirit.
  • IF SWALLOWED: Call a POISON CENTRE or doctor if you feel unwell at all.
