Description

Zinsser B-I-N Primer Sealer and Stain Killer is the ultimate shellac-based primer, sealer and stain killer. It is perfect for use on interior surfaces and spot priming of exterior surfaces.

B-I-N offers unparalleled adhesion to glossy surfaces – including glass – without the need for scuff sanding and blocks stubborn and persistent stains. The high adhesion shellac formula seals porous surfaces with excellent enamel holdout, even sealing bleeding knots and sap streaks. It works brilliantly on water stains, fungal degradation, nicotine, oil stains, marker pens stains and more.

B-I-N permanently blocks every kind of odour (from smoke and fire damage to odours from pets and nicotine). Its dried film is non-toxic and hypo-allergenic, it may be used in areas where incidental contact with food items occur. Perfect for interior ceilings, walls, doors and related paintable surfaces and spot priming on exterior metal, trims, PVC and wood. Superb for use on water stains, fungal degradation, nicotine, oil stains, marker pens stains and more.

Perfect for interior ceilings, walls, doors and related paintable surfaces and spot priming on exterior metal, trims, PVC and wood.

Preparation

  • Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew, wallpaper adhesive or any contamination that may interfere with adhesion.
  • If unsure, always wash surface with a household ammonia and water solution, appropriate cleaning solution, or solvent (Do not use tri sodium phosphate based cleaners).
  • Remove any unsoundly adhered coatings.
  • Sand any remaining paint film edges smooth with the surface.
  • Lightly sand exposed exterior wood with 80 to 100 grit sandpaper to remove loose or weathered wood fibers.
  • Attempt to remove existing stains by washing, sanding, scraping, etc.
  • Lightly sand or abrade bare wood that has been exposed for more than 4 weeks. This will help to remove weathered wood fibres.
  • Countersink exposed nail heads and fill all nail holes and gouges.
  • Remove interior mould and mildew before painting with a solution of one-cup household bleach per 5 litres of water or a quality biocidal wash. Rinse well. Always wear protective clothing and goggles to prevent eye and skin contact with bleach. Do not mix ammonia or any other chemical with bleach solution.
  • If you are concerned about mould and mildew behind walls, underneath flooring, in ventilation systems or other unseen areas, contact a professional who specializes in mould and mildew remediation. For commercial buildings and schools follow appropriate guidelines for mould removal.
  • Remove rust and wipe metal with a cloth dampened in alcohol then apply a rust-inhibitive primer.
