Description

Owatrol RA.85 Aluminium Paint is a high gloss, anti corrosive finish which resists flaking and peeling, and is heat resistant up to 175°C. Suitable for interior and exterior settings – both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Excellent for pipes, cisterns, metalwork and machinery – RA.85 can be used on all ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Owatrol RA.85 Aluminium Paint provides a highly resistant finish to Aluminium, with outstanding abrasion resistance it prolongs the life of the surface with excellent protection. RA.85 can even restore and rejuvenate rusted and corroded surfaces. The highly elastic finished surface will not crack or peel and galvanised surfaces do not require weathering or pickling first. Sand or shot-blasted surfaces don’t even need an immediate application as a light coating of rust will not affect performance or the finished result.

Originally developed for the shipping industry, RA.85 became a widely used cargo hold coating. It carries approval for the carriage of grain. It has excellent resistance against the effects of the weather, and as it does not emit any harmful fumes it is safe to use in confined spaces. Once cured, RA.85 aluminium paint can withstand temperatures of up to 175ºC, and it also has excellent light and heat reflecting properties.

Preparation

• Remove all scale; loose and flaking rust and old paint back to a sound surface and edge.
• Feather in any sharp edges.
• Wash or steam clean any surfaces exposed to chemicals (acids, alkalis or salt deposits) with copious amounts of water.
• Clean severely contaminated surfaces with an appropriate solvent.
• Abrade new wood surfaces with 120 grit paper to open the woods pores and dust off. Wash with denatured alcohol (methylated spirits) to remove any sanding residue.
• Thoroughly degrease oily, resinous and greasy woods with denatured alcohol (methylated spirits), acetone or similar solvent based product NOT White Spirit.
